About Us

I’m a local, self-taught metal artist creating jewelry and pins using the traditional lost wax casting method. My pieces are cast in bronze and silver, combining modern design tools with an ancient metalworking process.

While my early work began with hand-carved wax models, I now design many of my pieces using 3D modeling to develop the form and structure. From there, molds are created so wax models can be injected and prepared for casting. Each wax is then finished, invested, and cast into metal, preserving the details of the original design.

My work is heavily influenced by the natural world and the structures that exist beneath it—bones, skulls, animals, and organic forms. Many of my designs explore the intersection of nature and anatomy, turning these forms into small sculptural pieces meant to be worn or collected.

Please note that I meticulously cast and finish each piece by hand, resulting in unique variations that will occur with each item.

Lost Wax Casting Process

Building the Tree

Building a wax tree for your flask is a precision craft. Watch as I layer and shape each branch, creating the intricate pathways that will guide molten metal through your casting. Every curve and connection matters—this is where artistry meets engineering in the lost-wax process.

Investment

Here you can see the degassing process, where we remove trapped gases from the investment mold before moving into the burnout stage. This critical step ensures cleaner castings and reduces defects in the final metal piece.

Let the Metal Flow

After the kiln has cured for 12+ hours, it's time to pour the metal. We use vacuum casting to capture every intricate detail and ensure flawless results. This precision technique pulls the molten metal into the mold cavity under controlled pressure, eliminating air pockets and creating castings with exceptional clarity and surface finish.

Flask Quench

Once the metal has stopped glowing red hot, it's time to quench the flask. The rapid cooling causes the surrounding investment to shatter and fall away from the casting, revealing the finished piece.
